Plastic Wrapped is a series of mixed media collage works on stretched fabric. Sometimes embedded in plaster or cement, sometimes featuring transparent appliqué windows, these works preserve, protect, and display vintage printed media from bygone eras, particularly the 60s and 70s. Images culled from cookbooks, magazines, and encyclopedias simultaneously celebrate dated imagery and corresponding ideals, while at the same time making them vulnerable for reevaluation. Hand stitched with care beneath clear vinyl sheets, nostalgia is now pre-packaged and ready for consumption. photo Matthew Pevear
