Happy Ending is a heavily perfumed installation and performance which combines over the top hyper-beauty with the grotesque. Set before a plush pink textile, viewers are transported to a dreamland where happiness is dispensed in excess via Clinique Happy, beaming smiles, flirtatious giggles, and irresistible photo ops. Over the course of the performance tension builds between the inescapable odor of perfume and the unbroken facade of golden femininity incarnate as she recites corporate catchphrases. The work functions interactively as viewers are invited to share photos on social media, where images take on a life of their own. Happy Ending utilizes the subversive tactics of advertising to engage the senses, leaving a lingering trace long after the show has ended.
